On May 30, 2020, I announced to the world that Abigail Davis Books was making its debut. The crazy part is, I do not have a book published yet. Not to worry, this is part of the plan, but it certainly seems out of order and therefore unnerves me a bit.
A Little Backstory:
Not many people knew that I wanted to write children’s books and, honestly, I did not plan on making moves on this project for years. Yet, opportunity presented in, perhaps, one of the strangest ways possible. I have a two year-old and an 8 month old, my husband is deployed, and the country is in the middle of a pandemic. What better time to start something new?! Turns out, these three, seemingly large factors created time that was usually occupied by many other things. So, out of these months, generally presumed to be fraught with anxiety, loneliness, and exhaustion, were still filled with all of those emotions, but with the added excitement and sense of accomplishment that goes along with building something from the ground up. This time brought Abigail Davis Books to fruition and the beginning of spreading joy through story for years to come.
I plan to use this space to share about writing, about my vision for Abigail Davis Books, about my experience (things learned, mistakes made, inspirations, etc.), about projects I am working on, as a way to highlight great books as well as their authors and illustrators, perhaps a good recipe or two, plenty of behind the scenes thoughts I have along the way, and most importantly, when I have books published and ready for you to enjoy.
