EXTRAordinary Lesson 2 Activity

Marigold has always been a noticer. But lately, she isn’t just noticing the world around her, she’s noticing what everyone else has, does, and gets praised for. At the art display, everyone noticed one picture, but Marigold noticed everyone. In this lesson, girls will see how quickly noticing can turn into comparing and learn that they don’t have to measure themselves against someone else. God made each of them intentionally, with different interests, different abilities,
and different gifts, He gave them on purpose.

The The Hat Station gives girls a chance to practice keeping their eyes on what they like instead of watching what everyone else chooses. Each girl will pick the hat color and patches she loves, with no meaning attached and no “right” combination to create. When all the finished hats are together, they’ll see that different doesn’t mean better or worse, it simply reflects the fun and beauty of being uniquely made. My prayer is that the girls leave remembering, I don’t have to keep watching what everyone else is doing. I can pay attention to what God has given ME to do.

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”
